In addition, more than 2,000 castles and mansions invite visitors to experience nature, the architecture, history and present in unique combinations.
The many opportunities for conferences and conventions are pooled under the umbrella of the Rostock Convention Bureau. With the support of the European Union and the planning association for the region of Rostock, the district of Rostock is included in the sphere of activity of the existing network and positioned as a dynamic growth area in the MICE segment.
One initial project sponsored by the European Union from funds of the European Social Fund (ESF) of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, focuses on recruiting potential actors (hotels, locations, event agencies and service providers) in the district of Rostock and the associated establishment of long-term networkers. The establishment of a sales structure offers the opportunity to network all the relevant actors and create synergy effects under the umbrella of the Rostock Convention Bureau.
One project built on this structure, the marketing of conference and convention locations in the district of Rostock which is sponsored until 2022 by the Joint Mission to improve the Regional Economy, opens up an additional sales channel for the relevant partners. Marketing through the Rostock Convention Bureau increases the reach and awareness of actors from the district as qualified service providers in the conference and convention sphere while at the same time raising the potential for generating additional sales.
Expanding the Rostock Convention Bureau’s sphere of activities helps to knit the Hanseatic and University City of Rostock and the district of Rostock together, and awareness of potential conference and convention locations in the conference region of Rostock is considerably enhanced.

INSIGHTS INTO PROJECT
The project focuses on the one hand on marketing Rostock as a conference region through suitable sales and marketing measures, and on the other, on recruiting conference and convention planners with the aim of raising the profile of Rostock as a conference region in the domestic and global MICE market. To strengthen the conference and convention segment in the conference region of Rostock, conference and convention decision-makers must be targeted appropriately. Networking all the relevant actors and exploiting synergy effects will facilitate the establishment of a unified sales structure for the district of Rostock in the MICE segment.
This will support network partners in the district of Rostock in pooling and presenting their offerings in the MICE segment to event and convention planners in a targeted fashion under the umbrella of the conference region of Rostock, thus extending their reach and awareness as professional service providers in the conference and convention area.
